Embracing Self-Love and Wisdom: Reflections from a Year of Grace

Earlier this month we celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. A few days ago, I celebrated my 36th birthday. And next week, we will celebrate 5 years in business. September is always filled with such incredible milestone moments that call me to pause, reflect, and have deep gratitude for all of the wisdom that was gained leading up to that point. It’s part of my annual practice to journal, honor, and choose what gems I’ll take with me into the next year to record what I know is true in my heart, but could often use a loving reminder.

Last year after my reflection exercise, my mantra presented itself as “one step at a time, without judgment of pace.” It was all about a year of grace by slowing down and realizing that everything happens exactly when and how it’s supposed to. I don’t need to constantly have my foot all the way down on the gas. And man oh man did that manifest itself during this pandemic! One of the greatest silver linings of this time is realizing how perfect my mantra was, using it constantly.

As this wisdom list came to life on my birthday this year, it became clear that this would be a year of Self-Love and compassion. My mantra arrived as, “I release self-judgment and embrace self-love”. And just two days into my personal new year, I have already harnessed it with great intention and intensity.

Now that I’ve pulled the gems from 35, I wanted to share it with my community with hopes that it might serve you too!

And trust that all of this didn’t come from days of rainbows and sunshine. The power of these truths shined the brightest when I was wading through the mud, with scrapes and bruises.

  1. Ask yourself what you want before you become what others want you to be.
  2. The best “safety net” is deep relationships.
  3. We can always move to a tiny home in the mountains.
  4. You can manifest anything you want if your energy is aligned.
  5. Family comes in unimaginable ways and exactly as you had always wished and did not know was possible.
  6. Do not ask permission to be yourself.
  7. You need much less than you ever knew.
  8. There’s always time to slow down.
  9. Kindness starts inside first.
  10. You can be your own best friend and the love of your life.
  11. The Law of Attraction is always working. Evidence exists every day.
  12. Spirit is always there to guide.
  13. Boundaries make alignment possible. Boundaries are kind.
  14. There is no happiness in the absence of your values.
  15. Always listen to your heart, your queen.
  16. Your only measure of success is whether you were a vessel of love and light.
  17. There are signs everywhere from loved ones who have transitioned. You just have to be open to see them.
  18. Growth is painful. Change is painful. But there is nothing more painful than being stuck where you do not belong.
  19. Stand in your power and the money follows.
  20. Cherish the present moment – it is the only thing that is real.
  21. Never forget that we are all one.
  22. Love is always a choice.

What gems did you pick up during your last revolution around the sun? How do you honor them?
