How to Stop Spiraling in Uncertainty and Stay Grounded in Chaos
There are some moments in life that create the perfect conditions for chaos.
The kind of chaos where your mind starts spiraling before your body even has a chance to take a breath.
That happened for us recently as we were preparing to move from our winter in Arizona back to Idaho with our horses.
At first, everything felt like it was lining up.
We had moved our dates around to make it easier for the person trailering our horses. It felt like one of those aligned decisions where you think, “Perfect. This is going to work so much better.”
And then we looked at the weather. 🥶
A snowstorm was set to begin the exact day we were supposed to start the drive.
Not just a little dusting. A full Weather Advisory alert.
Up to a foot of snow by the time we arrived. 😱

Immediately, my mind wanted to run.
😵💫 What if we get trapped on the road?
😵💫 What if the horses struggle going from 80-degree Arizona weather to freezing temperatures in Idaho?
😵💫 What if they get sick?
😵💫 What if they don’t even have a shelter?
It was the perfect recipe for panic.
The perfect moment to feel overwhelmed, upset, anxious, and totally out of control.
Because the truth is, I couldn’t control the weather.
I couldn’t control every possible outcome my mind wanted to prepare for.
But I could control how I met the moment.
So I paused.
I grounded myself.
I came back to my breath, my body, and the truth of what was actually in front of me.
And from that place, I started asking a different question.
Not, “How do I control all of this?”
But, “What choices do I have control over now?”
That question changed everything.
😅 I immediately found and bought a horse shelter that’s waiting for us to pick up on our drive in.
😅 I researched how to best care for our boys in this weather shift.
😅 I checked in with the person trailering our horses to get her take on the storm.
🙏 And then, after doing what I could control, I practiced faith.
Not the kind of faith that ignores reality.
The kind of faith that says, “I have done what I can. I can trust the next right step.”⚡
And within a day of that moment….. the forecast completely shifted.
The storm disappeared.
🙃 No foot of snow.
🙃 No winter weather warning.
🙃 No dramatic arrival into chaos.
Just another reminder that so much of what we panic about never actually happens.
And yet, our bodies experience it as if it already has.
This is why self-regulation tools matter.
Because life will always give you weather you can’t control. ⛈️
Plans will change.
Timelines will shift.
Fear will rise.
Your mind will try to protect you by preparing for every possible disaster.
But when you learn how to pause, ground, and come back to what is actually yours to choose, everything changes.
You stop letting chaos decide who you become.
You become a steady place inside the storm.

And this is exactly why I created Becoming an Island of Peace in a Sea of Chaos Challenge. 🏝️
Because the world is going to keep giving you weather you can’t control.
Sometimes that weather is literal.
Sometimes it looks like headlines, uncertainty, family stress, financial pressure, work demands, AI changes, political noise, or the low-grade anxiety that keeps humming in the background of your day.
And while you may not be able to control the storm around you, you can learn how to stop letting it take up permanent residence inside of you.
That’s what this 5-day challenge is here to help you do.
From May 1st–5th, I’ll guide you through a simple, powerful experience to help you come back to your breath, your body, your values, and your truth when life feels like too much.
Inside the challenge, you’ll learn how to:
✨ Shift from reactivity to resilience
⚓ Use your breath and body to anchor peace in real time
🧠 Reframe the stories that keep you stuck in fear
🛡️ Protect your energy without shutting down
☮️ Become a grounded, calming presence for yourself and others
This is not about pretending everything is fine.
It’s not about bypassing reality.
And it’s definitely not about ignoring what’s happening in the world.
It’s about becoming the kind of person who can stay connected to yourself even when the world feels loud.
The kind of person who can witness the storm without becoming it.
The kind of person who can say:
I may not be able to control everything around me… but I can choose how I meet this moment.
If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, overstimulated, emotionally hijacked, or tired of spiraling every time life throws another “what if” your way, this challenge is for you.
You don’t have to keep absorbing every stressor around you.
You don’t have to keep living in survival mode.
You can learn how to steady your body, support your mind, protect your energy, and come back to yourself again and again.
