How to Find Silver Linings in Uncertain Times: A 7-Step Resilience Playbook
In a time when every day can feel like an unpredictable plot twist, it’s no wonder so many people are walking around with emotional whiplash. Whether you’re navigating transitions at work, shifting relationships, dealing with economic uncertainty, or simply trying to stay grounded in a world that feels increasingly chaotic, this time in our history is asking a lot of you.
When things feel uncertain, it’s much easier to make a laundry list of everything that’s not working (thanks, negativity bias). But finding what is working? That takes intention.
Before I go further, let’s address the elephant in the room: toxic positivity—the excessive and ineffective overgeneralization of a happy, optimistic state across all situations.
Lemme be clear: This isn’t that.
This isn’t about painting rainbows and sunshine over a shit storm. It’s about realizing that your garden can grow stronger after the rain, and yes—even manure has value when used as fertilizer for growth.
You first have to honor, acknowledge, and accept “what is.” If you skip that step, you bypass what’s real. Don’t gloss over the pain, grief, anxiety, or confusion you may be feeling right now.
You’re a human being with a full spectrum of emotions. You’re allowed to feel all of them.

But once you’ve honored those feelings, you have an opportunity. A choice. You can keep suffering and having a Groundhog Day low-vibe, broken-record type of experience. OR you can start to look for the silver linings and use them to build your future playbook for resilience.
Because every challenge is also a teacher.
Here’s what that looked like for me recently:
Milestone: Our cat of 19 years died after a challenging 4-month decline.
Silver Lining: Being forced to slow down to ensure he was comfortable throughout each day. To prioritize time together above all else, knowing it was limited. And cherish and honor all the unconditional love and wisdom he blessed us with.
Wisdom: When you honor your grief and celebrate the journey, life expands at the reminder of its preciousness.
Milestone: Being an entrepreneur during uncertain economic times and feeling the heaviness from clients and my community daily.
Silver Lining: Realizing that no matter what, I have the power to be an island of peace in a sea of chaos, and this is the season for me to help more people at an exponential level.
Wisdom: When you release fear and focus on what you can control from an abundant mindset, you always win in this game of life.
You’re Not Alone in the Uncertainty
According to the American Psychological Association, nearly 70% of adults say they feel overwhelmed by the constant stream of crises.
Translation: we’re not wired to function in a constant state of change, yet that’s where many of us live.
But here’s the good news—resilience isn’t a personality trait. It’s a practice.
So let’s practice together by building your Silver Linings Playbook.
7 Steps to Your Own Silver Linings Playbook
I’ve done this work with hundreds of Coaching clients, and now I want to share it with you. It’s simple and powerful.
STEP 1: ? Grab a journal and an uninterrupted sacred space to reflect
Capture your thoughts in something you’ll remember and will return to again and again.
STEP 2: ✍️ List your recent challenging life milestones
Think about the past 3 months. Career changes. Relationship shifts. Losses. Times when you struggled and times when you showed up anyway.
STEP 3: ? Find the silver linings
Ask: What did I learn from this? Which of my values were being tested? What did this reveal about my resilience, boundaries, or truth?
STEP 4: ? Future-proof your wisdom
Now that you’ve lived through it, what would you remind your future self to remember next time? What do you now know you didn’t before?
STEP 5: ? Look for the patterns
Are there recurring lessons? Values? Skills you’re strengthening? Circle, highlight, or jot down these themes.
STEP 6: ? Write yourself a letter
Using your themes, write a love note to your future self. Be your own greatest teacher and remind yourself of what’s true when the noise gets loud again.
STEP 7: ? Keep it close
Save this somewhere you can easily revisit when life gets wobbly. Open it and harness your own wisdom as you need it in real time.

Final Thoughts
Things aren’t suddenly going to be totally worked out and completely stable in the world. That is not realistic. And honestly? That can be a gift.
The gift of learning how to take your power back from the circumstances you can’t control and fully own what you can. To be an island of peace in a sea of chaos.
When you can do that, you’re unf*ckwithable. And that, my friend, is true freedom.
Meet yourself where you are—and let’s keep walking the path of possibility, together.
You’ve already been through so much. Let it fuel your healing. And choose to level up in this lifetime.
P.S.
Remember how I said I knew this was a time for me to help more people at an exponential level? Well, I’m just finishing up a 3-day course to teach you How to Be an Island of Peace in a Sea of Chaos. ?️
It’s designed to be simple, practical, and actionable so that no matter what’s going on around you, you can ground within yourself – quickly and sustainably.
We’re just putting the finishing touches on it now. And lemme just say, this is some of my best work yet. I cannot wait to help people experience this inner peace all over the world.?
