How to Stop a Doom Spiral: Reframe Limiting Beliefs with Gratitude
Ever have one of those magical, everything’s-falling-into-place days… only to wake up the next morning with your brain trying to convince you it’s all about to fall apart? ?♀️
That’s exactly what happened to me this week — and what I learned in the process might just help you stop your own “doom spiral” before it takes over.
If you’ve ever felt your mind try to steal your joy, I recorded a quick 3 Minute Meditation to Reframe Limiting Beliefs to help you pause, reset, and come back to what really matters — even on the messy days.

When Life is Good… and Your Mind Tries to Steal It
Yesterday was one of those beautiful days where everything just flowed.
I met several amazing human beings — one of them owns a retreat center just 25 minutes out of town, and she wants to partner with me on a women’s retreat this September. She’s clearly a divine values match. The kind of person where you instantly feel, Yes… we’re meant to do something together. ✨
Our investments hit an all-time high, so we were feeling financially abundant. ?
We opened a new bank account. ?
I went to a pickling class. ?
I saw friends. ?
I got creative in the studio and made new tracks.?
It was one of those “life is good” days. Going to bed feeling full and satisfied.
…And Then Came the Crash
If you’re anything like me, you might have a pattern that shows up after days like that. When things feel really good, my mind often can’t let me have it.
As Brené Brown warns, this is a classic case of “foreboding joy”—that jolt of fear that follows a moment of happiness, even when nothing is wrong. It’s our mind trying to protect us from disappointment by rehearsing tragedy before tragedy ever arrives.
And that’s totally what happened. I started poking holes in my joy:
Is it really that good? What’s missing? What do you need to fix? Where’s the danger? What should I be afraid of?

Then, I got a text from the people currently renting our home. They’d just put an offer in on a house and wanted to keep me posted in case they moved, so we could plan to put our house back on the market.
And immediately… my brain went into a doom spiral.
What if we can’t find anyone else to rent it? What if we have to start paying the mortgage on a home that’s not even being used?
Here’s the kicker:
I had zero evidence to support that fear.
We’ve rented our house consistently for a year and a half. We’ve had plenty of interest. And yet, my mind was quick to say, You can’t just be happy and enjoy this — I’m going to knock you down a peg or two.
Choosing Again
The difference between the old me and the me now is this:
I noticed it.
>I recognized the pattern.
>I forgave myself.
I literally said with my hand on my heart to myself:
“I’m so sorry I chose fear and protecting my hell when Heaven on Earth is right here.”
Then I chose again. I told James what was going on. He gave me a little love and reminded me we have nothing to worry about.
That moment reminded me how healing it is to let someone in — to not sit alone in the spiral. And then I immersed myself in values-driven energy. I welcomed in Creativity, Gratitude, and Impact as my medicine.
Grounding in gratitude for the abundance that exists now. Writing this piece. Creating a video for our group coaching community. And even finalizing new guided meditations to help in these moments.
Brene Brown reminds us that the antidote to foreboding joy is gratitude—leaning into what feels good, refusing to preempt disaster, and instead letting ourselves soften into those moments fully.
Permission to Be Human
I’m sharing this because I know how important it is to see the real work behind the scenes.
We’re not just teaching these tools — we’re using them right alongside you.
And here’s what I want you to remember:
✨ You have full permission to be human.
That means…
The joy.
The fear.
The doubt.
The gratitude.
All of it belongs.
Every moment is an opportunity to notice… forgive… and choose again.
So whatever’s going on in your world today — you’ve got this. And remember to listen to this track I made for you for times you could use a boost.
Let’s keep remembering that we have a choice.
P.S.
